Two ways to move this forward.

Volunteers keep the work moving week to week. Most commit between three and six hours per week for the length of a cohort cycle. A few come in for a single project and that also helps.

Three kinds of contribution are the most useful right now. The first is co-facilitating a cohort session next to the lead instructor, which usually means sitting with two or three participants as they try a new tool. The second is reviewing the participant data projects that come out of each module, giving notes on what is clear and what needs more context before a participant carries it into their community. The third is translating curriculum between English and Spanish, especially short items like one-page guides and assignment briefs.

Sessions run remotely by video call or, when a project allows, in person in Cali. Volunteers based in Colombia who want to be on the ground can coordinate that with the local team. Remote volunteers join from any time zone that overlaps with Latin American afternoon hours.

We work with community organizations, schools, community colleges, and universities that already serve the population we want to reach. The partnership is concrete. We bring the curriculum, the instruction, and the measurement framework. The partner organization brings a room where people can meet, helps recruit participants, and assigns at least one staff member who stays with the cohort through the cycle.

A first conversation usually runs about forty-five minutes. We cover which population the organization serves, what they have tried before with digital literacy, which days and times work for the families they want to reach, and what measuring outcomes together would look like. By the end, both sides know whether it makes sense to move to designing a pilot cohort.

We are opening the Youth Technology Instructor role to teach the applied AI and data curriculum with the Cali cohort. The background that fits combines experience working with young people from low-income settings, some comfort with tools like spreadsheets, common chatbots, and basic visualization, and a willingness to explain ideas in plain language without jargon.

We do not require a specific degree or an AI certification. We do value prior teaching experience in schools, community organizations, youth centers, or tutoring programs, and the ability to work in Spanish with Colombian families.
